This morning saw a cohort of more than 5000 techies, taking to the road at important junctions in Marathahalli, Kundalahalli gate, Graphite India junction and EPIC zone, to voice their concerns with placards, and forming a human chain.

Launching the #SaveWhitefield campaign, IT firm employees who work and live in Whitefield have taken a step towards bringing about the attention of the ruling party of Karnataka, Congress, to the plight of that part of Bengaluru, which is touted to be the hub of development.

However the reality is far from the projected idea of a uber modern information technology park. From damaged roads, lack of cleanliness owing to open drains to a deteriorating quality of life, tolerance of those working and living in Whitefield has reached a tipping point more so as the government has done little to improve the situation around Bengaluru's ITPL area.

While the political debate continues, government representatives have finally agreed to set up a meeting to address the situation later in the day.
