Fifteen people have been arrested so
far in the state of Madhya Pradesh for apparently shouting ‘anti-national’ slogans
during the victory of Pakistan in Champions Trophy Cricket final and
pro-Pakistan. The Police sources says that the Muslim men had been charged with
agitation. They have been arrested after their Hindu neighbours complained that
they have celebrated with crackers and shouted 'Pro-Pakistan' slogans during
the game. The sedition is one of the most serious charges under the IPC, those
who charged with sedition have to surrender their passports and not eligible
for government jobs, should appear in the court as and when required.
In the year 2014, 66 Muslim students from Indian-administered Kashmir were thrown out of
their university in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh and charged with
disturbing communal harmony. In 2016, police were sent into a university in
Indian-administered Kashmir after clashes between students from the state and
other parts of the country.
