India can save around INR 3.33 lakh crore ($50 billion) if logistics costs are brought down to 9 % from 14 % of the country's GDP. which can make domestic goods competitive in global markets, says a study. With the growth in logistics sector service delivery and customer satisfaction will grow in the exports of indian goods and potential to create job opportunities. The government needs to put in place requisite infrastructure to keep pace with development across the world, according to the study by Assocham Resurgent India. Proper policy changes and planning will increase in speed for transportation of goods and services through various logistics viz rail, air, water, road, Assocham Secretary General D S Rawat said. The study highlighted that passage of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill in the Parliament will further improve the logistics sector performance by bringing down distribution costs by up to 15 %.
