The three-day Visakha Utsav, to be inaugurated by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, will be held at Ramakrishna Beach here from Feb 3rd, 4th and 5th of 2017. Unlike earlier, this year the event would be held at a single venue on beach to enable tourists to enjoy different programmes.
The ambitious gala event of the state government aimed to attract domestic and foreign tourists to the city of Vizag. Folk arts would be presented at beach, opposite Novotel, flower show at Viswapriya Function Hall, while temple replicas and stalls would be put up on the 2.5-km stretch extending from RK Beach to YMCA Beach.
The website of Visakha Utsav www.visakhaustsav.com was launched amid much fanfare in the presence of HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao and several officials on January 1, 2017 (New Year’s Day).
This event has been made as the annual tourism festival, which draws together the arts, crafts and an assortment of cuisines of the different regions of Andhra Pradesh. In Visakhapatnam, different places are selected to serve as the venues for several cultural programmes, sports activities and competitions. “Visakha Puraskaram, being introduced for the first time this year, is intended to further enhance the reputation of the festival besides ensuring greater participation of the local people,” he said.
