BCCI's advisory committee consisting
of Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman has approached Rahul
Dravid to take up the role of chief coach of Team India. Rahul is
presently in-charge of India A and U-19 teams has done a commendable job with
the younsters. According to the sources if Dravid agrees to take up the
assignment, he will be given a free hand and a long contract extending to 2019
World Cup. And there is no clarity on the future of Ravi Shastri, whose
contract was already ended after India's campaign at the WT-20. The sources say
that the board is not keen to appoint him as chief coach. The advisory
committee will be meeting on Tuesday to discuss on the appointment of India's
next head coach. Dravid is presently the mentor of IPL franchise Delhi
Daredevils and before that he guided India to the U-19 World Cup.
