Around 9,000 primary and upper-primary schools to be closed in Andhra Pradesh in few months. This will be the strong setback to children from poor families and also result in a major dropout rate from the economically backward sections in society, as reported by TOI. The government says that this is done to strengthen school education. The Government is deciding to wind-up mid level schools which to be run as upper primary schools which is available up to class seven. This is inclusive of government plan to reduce budgetary support to the Educational Department.
