NASA's Peculiarity wanderer recently began autonomously choosing some of the targets for its ChemCam instrument. The car-size robotic rover exploring Gale Crater 'Curiosity' itinerant recently began autonomously choosing some of the targets for its ChemCam instrument which crack Martian rocks or soil with a laser and analyses the composition of the resulting vapor. NASA Scientists still selects most ChemCam targets after peruse over images captured by the drifter. And Curiosity's increased independence comes in useful. This autarchy is particularly useful at times when getting the science team in the kink is difficult or impossible in the middle of a long drive, perhaps or when the schedules of Earth, Mars and spacecraft activities lead to delays in sharing information between the planets, robotics engineer of NASA said in a statement.

To select a target autonomously the software's analysis of images uses variable basis specified by scientists, such as identifying rocks based on their brightness  or size, NASA officials said. The criteria can be changed depending on the rover's surroundings and the scientific goals of the measurements. ChemCam sits a top Curiosity's head-like mast. The instrument can investigate the composition of a target that is up to 23 feet (7 meters) away from the rover. Using a suite of different instruments the rover quickly found evidence that Gale was a potentially habitable lake and stream system billions of years ago. During the four years on Mars, Curiosity has used ChemCam to analyse more than 1,400 targets, firing off more than 350,000 laser blasts in the process, NASA officials said.

On Moday India successfully launched its own space shuttle. This is first time the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) launched a winged flight vehicle, called the Reusable Launch Vehicle Technology Demonstrator (RLV-TD) which can launch satellites, and will orbit around the Earth. Also called as hypersonic flight experiment, the RLV-TD then float back onto a virtual runway in the Bay of Bengal. This can be considered India's own 'Space Shuttle' it can help with reliable, low cost and on-demand space access as per ISRO Scientists. The RLV-TD was 6.5 m structure, weighed 1.75 tons (approx 1,600 KG) and resembled an aeroplane. It was aerial into the atmosphere on a special rocket booster.

India is focusing towards its eagerness to one day launch a space shuttle. On May-23rd scientists of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will send skyward scale model of a re-usable spacecraft as a test. If this mission is successful it would re-present a break through for india's low cost space exploration program. But it will take long time to develop a working space shuttle. It is a technology demonstrator launch, according to the sources in ISRO. To build and launch a proper space shuttle can take 10-15 years. The modeled shuttle is about one-sixth size of planned craft, which will be launched from a small island off coast of the Andhra Pradesh. It will travel to an altitude of about 43 miles and then return to earth with this scientists can see how it behaves as it re-enters the atmosphere. The plan is to attempt a controlled landing of the space craft in the Bay of Bengal, according to the source. There won’t be an attempt to recover the vehicle. The launch will follow India's recent launch of a satellite, essential to create own satellite-navigation system. India has gained a global recognition for its budgeted satellite launches.
