PM Modi calls meeting with CM's of Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra

As the country is under major water crisis situation captivating many farmers to commit suicide, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka for a detailed discussion over the matter. The meeting has been called tomorrow. The cloudburst also occurred at many places over Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu. However dry weather prevailed over Coastal Karnataka and Lakshadweep. In UP Moderate rains and thundershowers occurred at isolated areas and heavy rains occurred in western UP.

According to Sudheendra Kulkarni, Observer Research Foundation (ORF) Chairman Maharashtra needs an integrated drought relief policy and a separate department if the state government is serious about tackling the water scarcity issue.
