Karnataka precipitate a
constitutional crisis by taking a obstinate stand that it was unable to release
Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu as per the orders of the Supreme Court. Supreme
Court has passed a fresh order on Friday asking the State Government to release
6,000 cusecs daily till October 6th or face the 'wrath of law'. A bench of
Justices U U Lalit and Dipak Misra said, Karnataka should not be bent upon
maintaining an stubborn stand of confrontation, for one knows not when the pique
of law shall fall on one. During the hearing, Karnataka counsel Fali S Nariman
handed over to the Supreme Court a letter written by Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah
to him conveying that both Houses of the state legislature, all political
parties and Union ministers were unanimous that the will of the people of
Karnataka was against release of water.
