List of Padma Awards 2016

On Monday, Government has announced the list of Padma Awards 2016. The awards will be given across three categories: the Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri.The Padma nominations are sent to the Padma Awards Committee, represented by the Prime Minister every year. Nominations sent to the Union Home Minister or Union Home Secretary offices in North Block in New Delhi for deciding the award winner.The Padma awards seek to recognize work of distinction and are given for distinguished and special achievements, service in all fields of discipline, activities such as art, education and literature, sports, social work, medicine, science and engineering, civil service, public affairs, trade and industry.

Padma Bhushan Awards 2016 

The Padma Bhushan award will be also given to Bollywood actor Anupam Kher, sportspersons Saina Nehwal and Sania Mirza, singer Udit Narayan, Ram Sutar, Former CAG Vinod Rai, Heisnam Kanhailal, Barjinder Singh Hamdard, Swami Tejomayananda, Prof N S Ramanuja Tatacharya, Prof D Nageshwar Reddy, Former US Ambassador to India Robert D Blackwill and Bennett, Coleman & Company's Indu Jain.

Padma Vibhushan Awards 2016

Filmstar Rajinikanth, Yamini Krishnamurthi, Girija Devi, Ramoji Rao, Shri Shri Ravi Shankar, Dr Viswanathan Shanta. Reliance Industries founder late Dhirubhai Ambani have also been awarded by the Padma Vibhushan.

Padma Sri Awards 2016 

Prominent personalities to get Padma Shri awards are: Lawyer Ujjwal Nikam, actors Ajay Devgn and Priyanka Chopra.
