Manohar Parrikar (Indian Defence Minister)
said on 25th October that india will continue to investigate ostensible wrong doing
by Brazilian aircraft maker Embraer over the 2008 sale of three EMB-145
aircraft for India's aboriginal aircraft early warning and control (AEW&C)
Programme. The investigation into the USD208-million deal will follow Indian
laws on corruption and recoil subject to evidence, said Manohar. The statement
was made despite the fact that the company had reached an agreement a day
earlier with Brazilian and US authorities to pay USD205.5 million to settle a
six-year corruption investigation into corruption allegations.
