In the search operations
24 Maoists, including two top commanders Chalapati and Gajarla Ravi were killed
in an exchange of fire with security forces on the Andhra Pradesh-Odisha
border, dealing a grave puff to the Maoists in the region. Andhra Pradesh’s elite
anti-Naxal force were also injured in the exchange of fire and airlifted to
Visakhapatnam for treatment. The two Maoists commanders were carrying a reward
of Rs 20 lakh each on their heads. And another Munna, son of Maoist top leader
Ramakrishna was also said to be among the casualties.
Some of the women Maoists
were also said to be among those killed in the face-off which endure for almost
an hour early this morning. Police has recovered four AK-47 rifles from the
scene of the encounter where the Maoists
den was found. This was a joint operation by Andhra Pradesh and Odisha security
forces.
