Government Of India (GOI) today informed to Parliament that a decision has been taken to print new plastic currency notes and procurement of required material has started.  The printable banknotes based on plastic or polymer substrate. The process of procurement has been actuate, The Reserve Bank (RBI) was been planning to launch new plastic currency note after field of trials. In the year 2014, the government had informed in Parliament that one billion plastic notes of INR 10 Denomination would be introduced in the view of field trial in five selected cities for their geographical and climatic medley. The selected cities were Mysore, Kochi, Shimla, Jaipur and Bhubaneswar. Plastic notes have an average life span of about five years and are difficult to emulate. The another feature in currency notes made of plastic are cleaner than paper ones.

Today at Lok Sabha the MP’s of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and YSR Congress effectively joined their hands to demand special status for newly formed Andhra Pradesh. YSR Congress members straggle with holding posters and raising slogans pursue special status for Andhra Pradesh.  Members of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led ruling entente partner Telugu Desam Party also stood in the alley with larger posters and raising similar slogans. As the Speaker repeatedly said that posters are not allowed members of the two parties continued to show banners and raise slogans throughout the Question Hour which continued in the uproar. TDP Govt is unhappy at the BJP Government for not providing the desired funds to the state. The crevice between TDP and BJP are being seen as so serious that there is conjecture that the party led by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu could even walk out of the NDA.

Parliamentary Standing Committee today recommended that celebrities should accountable for misleading ads, severe provisions including jail term up to 5-Years and penalty of up to INR 50 lakh, this is to protect consumer interest. In the report on the Consumer Protection Bill, 2015 tabled in Parliament today, the panel has suggested ASCI advertising watchdog to control misleading ads besides proposing severe penalties, jail and cancellation of license of those involved in food adulteration. The committee headed JC Divakar Reddy Telugu Desam Party (TDP) lawmaker. The government has introduced the Consumer Protection Bill, 2015 in Lok Sabha in August-15 to  revoke the 30-year old Consumer Protection Act.  The Committee recommended severe provisions to be made in the bill to tackle misleading advertisement and to fix liability on celebrities/endorsers it said.

The committee recommends that for first time the offender may be penalised with either a fine of INR 10 lakh or imprisonment up to two years, or may be both. For second time offence a fine of INR 50 lakh and imprisonment of five years. And for subsequent offences, the penalties may be increased proportionately based on the value of sales volumes of such products or services, the report said.

Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) uses critical equipment to assemble deadly Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were manufactured by seven Indian companies, according to Conflict Armament Research (CAR), same was said in the Lok Sabha was informed today. Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary (Minister of State for Home Affairs) said all components disclosed by CAR were legally exported from india to business entities in Turkey and Lebanon. As per CAR reports there is no evidence of any direct transfer of goods to the Islamic State. The CAR has examined over 700 materials used by IS to manufacture IEDs between 2014 to February 2016. The report says some of the materials procured by the IS operatives included detonating cards, detonators and safety fuses in addition to other countries, were also supplied by seven Indian companies.

Lok Sabha on Wednesday passed the Aadhar Bill by rejecting the amendments proposed by the Rajya Sabha. The Lok Sabha was then adjourned till April 25. The bill to give statutory backing to the unique identity number scheme for better targetting of subsidies was returned by Rajya Sabha to the Lok Sabha with several amendments, with Opposition parties also objecting strongly to treating it as a money bill. The return of the bill saw an animated debate over why it was brought as a money bill, with a number of opposition members also raising concern over privacy and national security on the biometric data of Indians so collected through the scheme.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said the Aadhar Bill was a money bill as it dealt with the way public money or subsidy will be distributed among the needy under various government schemes. Moving the Bill in Rajya Sabha, Jaitley said Parliament cannot abdicate its right to legislate just because the issue is pending in the Supreme Court.

In the Lok Sabha a bill which provides Aadhaar statutory backing for use for transferring government subsidies and benefits was introduced today incorporating clauses to keep personal information discreet and it not being a proof of citizenship. The Finance Minister Arun Jaitley introduced The Aadhaar (Target Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Bill, 2016 amid protests by Congress over the legislation being categorised as a money bill which does not need approval of the Rajya Sabha. Taking a dig at the Opposition for linking Adani group with the government Nitin Gadkari said state-owned Kandla port was more efficient than Adani’s Mundra port both of which are in Gujarat. Gadkari’s remarks came during Question Hour in response to TMC member Saugata Roy who mentioned the name of the Adani group when the Minister was replying to supplementaries relating to ports.

 For the second straight day, HRD Minister Smriti Irani made a strong defence of the government's actions on Thursday with regard to JNU issue and suicide of Dalit student in Hyderabad university in the face of intense attack by the opposition which alleged that attempts were being made to suppress dissent.

Irani, who was ballistic in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, was comparatively mellowed down in the Rajya Sabha as she replied to questions raised on her performance as also that of the HRD Ministry under her.

She said she had been "rightly" advised by someone to be calm.

Her reply to a short duration discussion, however, was cut short as the House was abruptly adjourned after uproar over her certain comments which she made while alleging that some elements in JNU had published derogatory pamphlets about Goddess Durga.

As she narrated the descriptive details of the pamphlets, Anand Sharma of Congress took objection, saying it could set a precedent and in future somebody else could repeat it with regard to Gods of other religions.

"What is happening here? This is too much. It's a dangerous precedent. Every religious leader and deity has been derogatorily referred by some persons. Will all this be discussed here? Can we allow it here. Then there will be a war in the House," Sharma said.

Irani insisted with her reference, saying it was imperative to counter the charge levelled against her.

Responding to objections, deputy chairman PK Kurian said she has authenticated what she had said. "What can I do?" he said.

With the opposition remaining unrelenting, he adjourned the House till Friday.
