The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) was created under unexpected circumstances. The intention was felt to 'regulate the issue of bank notes and the custody of reserves with a view to securing monetary stability'. However, in the year 1929, the world had been hit by an striking economic crisis the 'Great Depression'. The monetary systems of the world were in confusion. There was no certain kind of monetary system was in existence in India. There fore it was decided to place a 'temporary provision' and that temporary provision was the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934 ('the Act'). The India’s Central Bank established on 1st April 1935 under RBI Act 1934.
The RBI’s main objectives in 1934:
  • to keep the reserves
  • An static law and
  • to issue bank notes        
Under the Act there were innumerable of amendments, extensive powers were negotiated on the Reserve Bank. The word 'Independent' does not exists in the Act but, over the years, the principle of Central Bank sovereign has been raised to the level of an permanent law. According to the provisions of Section 7 of the Act, the central government can give such directions to the RBI as it may consider necessary in the interest of public, but such power has never been exercised in 83 years of the Act. There was been times when the central government and RBI did not see eye-to-eye. In a very closed economy and with little reserves, the RBI was known more as a banking regulator and fisted controller of foreign exchange than as an issuer of bank notes.

History of RBI
  • 1950-1960: In the 1950's the Indian Government, under its first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, Developed a centrally planned economic policy that focused on the agricultural sector.
  • 1960-1969: The RBI was requested to establish and monitor a deposit insurance system. It should restore the trust in the national bank system and was initialized on 7th December 1961.

Structure of RBI
The Organisation and Management of RBI is Vested on the Central Board of Directors. It is responsible for the management of RBI. Central board of RBI Consists of 20 members. It is constituted as follow

Government Of India (GOI) today informed to Parliament that a decision has been taken to print new plastic currency notes and procurement of required material has started.  The printable banknotes based on plastic or polymer substrate. The process of procurement has been actuate, The Reserve Bank (RBI) was been planning to launch new plastic currency note after field of trials. In the year 2014, the government had informed in Parliament that one billion plastic notes of INR 10 Denomination would be introduced in the view of field trial in five selected cities for their geographical and climatic medley. The selected cities were Mysore, Kochi, Shimla, Jaipur and Bhubaneswar. Plastic notes have an average life span of about five years and are difficult to emulate. The another feature in currency notes made of plastic are cleaner than paper ones.

Today the defence ministry has offered to buy at least 200 fighter jets from foreign companies, but only if they are manufactured in India with a local partner, sources said. The Union Defence Ministry asked several companies if they are willing to set up a manufacturing assembly line in India, according to the report. Experts said that the potential deal which could be as many as 300 aircraft would worth between $13 billion (approx INR 86,845 Crores) to $15 billion (approx INR 1 lakh Crores) making one of the biggest military aircraft deals in the country's history.

The Central government reportedly hasten the process of reconcile the nativity issue following the request made by the AP Government. The nativity issue reap momentum ahead of the State government to shift its operations from Hyderabad, Telangana to AP Capital city Amaravati. In earlier Union Home Ministry gave its comments and sent to PM Modi. And the file was sent from PMO to President Pranab Mukherjee for his assent on Tuesday. AP Government assume that the President would give his assent with-in a week or 10 days much leading of the employees relocate from Hyderabad, Telangena to Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh beginning from June 27, according sources. The families having children who will shift to Amaravathi will not be having four years of study or stay from the date of shifting. It will be a inauspicious position for such families, as they will lose local status in Hyderabad or other parts of Telangana but also will not have local status of the residual state of Andhra Pradesh. For this the AP Government asked the Centre to grant local status to the candidates who migrate to parts of Andhra Pradesh from Telangana after bifurcation within a term of three years from the date of bifurcation of State on par with other local candidates.

Nirmala Sitharaman (India's commerce and industry minister) said on Monday that the government has rejected Apple's proposal to sell revamped iPhones. Nirmala said government is not in favour of any company for selling used phones, however certified they may be. The Apple wanted to attract Indian customers its a blow to the company. The wide majority of smartphones sold in world's second most teeming nation have a price tag under $150. Providentially for Apple there is some good news when it comes to opening its own stores in India, its other big strategy in the country. The finance Ministry recently said Apple if it wished to open stores in the country, it would have to sell at least 30% locally sourced goods. Nirmala noted that she was in talks with the finance ministry to reconsider offering Apple a waiver from these local sourcing rules.
This announcement comes after Apple CEO Cook's maiden visit to India. On his four days stay in india, Cook met with several telecom heads and also India Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also announced an iOS design and development centre in Bangalore, Karnataka and a Maps Development Centre in Hyderabad, Telangana

According to the draft 'The Geospatial Information Regulation Bill 2016' makes it is mandatory to take permission from a government authority before acquiring, proclaiming, publishing or distributing any denoting information of India. No person shall delineatepromulgate, publish or distribute any wrong or false topographic information of India including international boundaries through online services or internet platforms or in any physical or electronic form. Who-ever acquired any geospatial information of India in offends against law shall be punished with a fine from INR 1 Crore to INR 100 Crore and or imprisonment for a period upto seven years, according to the draft bill.

AP Chief Minister demanded the Centre to grant special category status to the state, saying that there would be 'no compromise' on that. Chandra Babu said addressing a meeting on the May Day celebration bifurcation of state was not wished. Hence, the Centre should liberally aid our state. The UPA government promised special category status to Andhra Pradesh for five years but we wanted it for ten years. It is the responsibility of the Centre to fulfill that. The Chief Minister launched 'Chandranna Beema Padhakam' on the occasion of International Workers Day. Under this scheme each worker would get an accidental insurance cover of INR 50,000. Chief Minister said in this scheme around 1.5 crore workers in unorganized sector covered in the state. Enrollment of workers under this scheme would be completed in coming three months and implementation would begin on Independence Day i.e August 15th.

The Peetam also has a good solid waste management system, organic and inorganic are segregated and organic waste is converted into manure for internal consumption.

I was very impressed by the Sri Sakthi Amma Afforestation programme in which 06 lakhs Saplings have been planted in Kailasagiri Hill.

I am happy to note that they are not only concentrating on social evils but also is actively involved in environmental and ecological balance of the area.
Under Arogya (Health) Scheme caters the whole treatment free of cost of the patients especially for the students suffering from cardiac, liver and kidney problems. Every year several hundreds of physically challenged persons are benefited with the wheel chairs, Tricycle, crutches, artificial limbs, Hearing aids from Amma’s generosity. People who can afford them have to pay.

Today along with Sri Sakthi Amma inaugurated 125 beded multi specialty New Block of Sri Narayani Hospital & Research Centre at Sripuram today. All modern equipment from Germany installed like MRI, CT scan and may more.

In a statement central govt stated the Supreme Court that India shouldn't claim Kohinoor diamond from the British. Solicitor General said that Kohinoor gifted by Maharaja Ranjit Singh to the East India Company. He said that it is the view of the Culture Ministry.  Indians have long maintained that the Kohinoor should be returned to India by its former colonial rulers. Recently on April 8th the Apex Court asked the government to clarify its stand on a  Pacific International Lines (PIL) seeking return of Kohinoor diamond to India. Everybody is claiming the Kohinoor a bench headed by Chief Justice TS Thakur had told the solicitor general many countries are claiming Kohinoor such as India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and even South Africa. Somebody here is also asking for the Kohinoor. Do you know about it ?

The petition also also sought return of the 'ring and sword' of Tipu Sultan and other treasures of Tipu Sultan, Bahadur Shah Zafar, Rani Jhansi, Nawab Mir Ahmad Ali Banda and other rulers of India.

Coal India (CIL) today has declared an interim dividend of INR 27.40 pershare and the total outgo will be INR 20,830 crore, including dividend tax. One of the largest beneficiary will be the central government, which holds 79.64 % and will get a dividend of INR 17,308 crore, a communique said. The government has been able to mobilise a little over INR18,300 crore from divestment this fiscal till February against the target of INR 69,500 crore due to volatility in stock markets.
