Andhra Pradesh state opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy said that sale and consumption of liquor will be banned in AP in three phases if the YSRC is elected in 2019 assembly election. Jagan said that firstly illegal liquor vends in villages will be shut down, followed by a campaign against drinking, the liquor prices will be increased to such a level that only rich will be able to buy it. And then we will ban liquor completely in the state. Mr Reddy at the two-day meeting of the party in Amaravati said 'The future is ours, once I become chief minister, I will bring back the golden rule of our late leader YS Rajasekhara Reddy'. 

Mr Reddy added that 'I have a strong fancy to become the chief minister of the state. I wanted to rule for 30 years in a manner that will make every household keep my picture, along with that of my late father, after my demise'. Jagan released newly-coined slogan 'Anna Vastunnadu... Bhavishyattu Manade... (brother is coming, future is ours) to every home in the state. Mr Jagan added that he will launch programmes for farmers, students, women and pensioners. He said social security pension will be hiked to INR 2,000 from INR 1,000.
He said Chandrababu government has done false promises before the 2014 election. As soon as I become Chief Minister, I will distribute INR 50,000 to each small and marginal farmer holding less than five acres of land. He said a price stabilisation fund of INR 3,000 Crores and calamity relief fund worth INR 2,000 Crores will be launched for farmers in anguish, adding INR 15,000 Crores will be kept aside for women self-help groups. YSRC appointed Prasanth Kishor as political strategist of YSRC. Mr Jagan added that  'Like he helped Narendra Modi become Prime Minister in 2014, Kishor will guide us to victory in 2019.

Prashant Kishor (Political strategist) has been tether in by the YSR Congress Party. Party President Y S Jaganmohan Reddy held a meeting with party leaders in which Prashant Kishor was present. Prashant Kishor is expected to give inputs to YSRCP to strengthen, besides preparing strategies to take on the ruling TDP headed by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. The YSR Congress focused to wrest power in 2019.


Prashant Kishor helped BJP in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Kishor was successful in offering a sound strategy to the ‘Mahagathbandhan’ in the Bihar Legislative Assembly elections. He was also the brain behind incumbent Chief Minister Amarinder Singh's strategy in Punjab assembly polls, though he faced flak from a section of Congress workers in Uttar Pradesh.

The demand for Special Category Status of Andhra Pradesh is gaining momentum in Vishakapatnam. The main reason of protest is that it was charged by Janasena President Pawan Kalyan and YSR Congress Chief Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy. Pawan Kalyan has been leading the charge for Special Category Status for Andhra Pradesh, assert that when the Congress led UPA Government bifurcated Andhra Pradesh in June 2014, most of the resources were allotted to the new state, while the old one was given tread motherly treatment. Pawan even counseled Andhra politicians to take a page out of Jallikattu protests in Tamil Nadu to ask for Special Category Status for the state from the Centre.

Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy now started posit more strain on this matter. He was refused to enter to the city by authorities at Visakhapatnam airport, Jagan started sit-down protest at Visakhapatnam airport. Police stoped several protesters who were concern on issue in the city.

Even as many messages are been circulated on social media on how much Andhra Pradesh had lost to Telangana during the bifurcation, and how much the state would benefit if given special status. Protests have been taking place in Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Guntur, Tirupati and many other places, even though Section 144 placed. The stirrer have been demanding that the centre should announce special status, instead of special package for the state.

In Andhra Pradesh Assembly debate on the motion of thanks to the Governor's address virtually exposed the Opposition YSR Congress, providing the right opportunity for the ruling TDP to pro-claim innocence on the controversy stirred by Sakshi media on the alleged land deals in the new capital region 'Amaravati'. An emotional Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu lashed out at Jagan for trying to scuttle the development of the state capital and thereby damage the interests of AP and its people as a whole. Chandra Babu said you(Jagan) have been playing dirty political games in the last two years and trying not to built capital region. But I will build a world class people's capital that is my commitment, you cannot do anything. 

Mean while Jagan raised the capital lands issue while speaking on the motion of thanks to the Governor's address. He said there is insider trading behind the land purchases allegedly made by some Ministers and ruling party leaders. He read out some reports published in his `Sakshi' newspaper and in particular took the names of two Ministers from TDP i.e P Pulla Rao and P Narayana over the land issue. Chandra Babu, TDP and BJP demanded that Jagan prove the allegations right on the floor of the House or tender an unconditional apology. If you prove the allegations, the two Ministers will be dismissed. Otherwise, you have to face action of the House.

Chandra Babu said you(Jagan) don't even know the meaning of insider trading. You are facing many criminal charges and trials. You have no right to talk. Despite the series of news reports, 'Sakshi' or Jagan could not produce single evidence of wrongdoing in the land deals. You have to speak responsibly and produce evidence for your words. Jagan then appeared to divert the issue and wanted the TDP Government to order a CBI inquiry into alleged land deals. The BJP Ministers Kamineni Srinivas and P Manikyala Rao rose to their feet and ridiculed Jagan saying you are used to it (CBI probe), so you want CBI inquiry into everything, in reference to the numerous trials currently underway in courts against the 43-year-old politician. The Government warned of 'punishment by the House' if Jagan did not prove his allegations against the Ministers.

 The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly today unanimously has passed a resolution requesting the Centre to enact the Women's Reservation Bill providing 33 % reservation for women in Parliament and state legislatures. Andhra Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, has made a special statement in the House on the occasion of International Women's Day proposed the resolution and it was adopted unanimously. This has been a long pending demand on International Women's Day, we shall request the Centre to enact the women's reservation bill and give women their due,  Chandra Babu said while making the statement. He listed out the various initiatives of his government aimed at empowerment of women. Mean while YSRCP chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy sought to ridicule the Chandra Babu statement saying the Govt had no respect for women. 

 Jagan said one of your MLAs manhandles a woman tehsildar who tried to curb the sand Mafia. You suspend our woman MLA from the House for a year for no reason. A minister's son is involved in an eve-teasing incident in Hyderabad. One of your MLAs talks bad things about women. This is the respect you have for women,and alleged that what all the Chandra Babu mentioned in the statement were blatant lies. However ruling party members hit back at Jagan one after the other, leaving the opposition leader speechless. Afer that CM moved the resolution on reservations for women.

YSR Congress Party president Jaganmohan Reddy today called for total prohibition in Andhra Pradesh, a day after five persons died after drinking spurious liquor here. ”Gujarat government has been successfully implementing total prohibition in the state. Recently, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar is contemplating prohibition in his state. Why cannot Chandrababu Naidu initiate such action,” Jagan questioned. 
Five persons died and 15 others were hospitalised after they consumed spurious liquor from an outlet here yesterday. Jagan was addressing reporters after visiting a government hospital here where victims of the incident are undergoing treatment. ”The policy of the current government to set target in sale of liquor causes corruption and gives rise to sale of spurious liquor. In a bid to meet the sales target, wine shops are allowed to stay open round-the-clock and they in turn allow unauthorised shops to function,” the opposition leader said. Jagan said the total sale of liquor in Andhra Pradesh in 2014-15 stood at Rs 6,632 crore whereas it has already crossed Rs 7050 crore so far in current financial year. ”The volume of liquor sales shows that state government is very much keen on supporting the liquor trade,” he added. Jagan said his party would impose total prohibition if it got elected in next Assembly elections “in interest of the poor and women”

Demanding the CBN Government to take effective steps and provide immediate relief to the farmers, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has said that the State should purchase the de-coloured and soaked paddy by paying MSP.

He said "Everyone knows that rains have battered the Godavari districts and paddy crop was badly damaged. Standing crops in over 1.5 lakh acres in East Godavari and about 2.5 lakh acres of crop in West Gadavari district were badly affected and the state should provide immediate relief."

The government has failed to enumerate the extent of damage even after the floods have receded and its intention of cutting down the ex-gratia amount by underplaying the magnitude of the damage is very obvious by the delay, he said and demanded that government pay MSP to all the de-coloured paddy and paddy that has become wet due to the rains.

While the paddy bag should normally fetch Rs 1,050, the amount on the offer is just Rs 650 per bag as the crop is damaged. In such a situation the State did not even issue a notification to purchase the damaged crop, he pointed out.



It does not need a technical expertise for the exercise and we all know that there were heavy rains and the crop was damaged in large extent. There is no need for enumeration and the compensation should be announced immediately,’ he said adding that the government should not push the farmers to further despair but instead pay the amount due immediately and save them.

YSRC chief Jagan to sit on indefinite fast for AP special status:

Jagan says that Chandra Babu government should act before September 15, to withdraw its ministers from the NDA government for failing to procure special status.Today he announced an indefinite fast in Guntur from September 15 to demand fulfilment of the promise of special category status made to Andhra Pradesh during state bifurcation last year.The promise of special status was made by the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Parliament during bifurcation last year.

"It has been 15 months since CBN came to power. The promise of special status was given by the then Prime Minister and also opposition in Rajya Sabha. It appears that it has gone into thin air. There is no answer when we asked when it would be implemented," he told reporters here.

Noting that he already held a fast for two days on the issue in AP and also organised a protest in Delhi, Jagan said he would take up the fast from September 15 to mount pressure on the TDP government. He said that the ruling TDP-BJP combine for not honouring the promise even 15 months after coming to power.
