Finally The Indian National Congress Party admitted that Rahul Gandhi meet with Luo Zhaohui (Chinese ambassador) . And also conceded that Mr Gandhi also met with Bhutanese envoy and ex-NSA Shiv Shankar Meno. The Congress Party spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala, who had strongly denied with media reports about the meetings, made a u-turn and admitted. Sujewala added that many ambassadors and envoys keep on meeting time to time with Congress president and vice-president. While addressing a press conference Manish Tewari Congress leader slammed those who were targeting the party over the meeting. Mr Tewari added what ministers Prakash Jawdekar, JP Nadda and minister of culture were doing in China when Prime Minister met Chinese Premier at G-20.

Rahul Gandhi said that it is his job to be informed on critical issues as he sought to defend his meeting with the Chinese ambassador amid a border row with China. He also took a dig at Narendra Modi saying he was not like the prime minister who was 'sitting on the swing' when Chinese soldiers were entering India.

By Questioning his role in demonetisation, the Public Accounts Committee (PAC), headed by KV Thomas (Congress leader) has asked Urjit Patel  (RBI Governor) a series of 10 questions about demonetisation and has asked him to appear before January 28. Demonetisation was announced on 8th November, 2016 and since then, the RBI has changed several rules for exchange, depositing and withdrawal of currency. The Opposition had deride the government in the Winter Session of Parliament because of persistent change of rules and regulations.


In the first people were allowed to take out only INR 2,000 notes from ATMS, then it was increased to INR 2,500 and has now been further increased to INR 4,500. According to ‘National Media’ Urjit Patel has asked, ‘Why have there been so many flip-flops in RBI regulations over the past two months..? Please give us the name of the RBI officer who came up with the idea to ink people for withdrawal…? Who drafted the notification on marriage related withdrawal…? If it was not the RBI that drafted these but the government, is the RBI now a department of Ministry of Finance..?  The PAC has also demanded to know the precise reason behind the decision of demonetisation of INR 500 and INR 1,000 notes. It has also asked if the RBI agreed to the minister Piyush Goel's statement that the decision of demonetisation of RBI's and the government merely implemented it.  And why the RBI declined to disclose the information under the RTI, citing fatuous reasons such as fear of personal injury..? Why is the RBI not providing information under RTI to queries that come..?  RBI Governor was asked according National Media.

In Assam the biggest north-eastern state Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) created history . It also opened account in Kerala in addition to winning some seats in West Bengal. Mamata Banerjee in broke records West Bengal by not only overwhelm the Left Front-Congress combine but by winning for the second consecutive time. Mamata is the only leader in West Bengal to win for the second consecutive term. In Tamil Nadu Jayalalithaa created history by breaking the decades old pirouette door plague in the state by winning for consecutive terms.

In Kerala 93-year-old VS Achuthanandan led the United Democratic Front campaign (UDF) to a historic victory and expected to become the Chief Minister of the state. If so he will be the oldest chief minister ever to take office in India. 

In Jharkhand Panki assembly constituency Bharatiya Janata Party candidate Lal Suraj has slipped to the third spot. The contest is now between Congress leader Devendra Kumar Singh, leading the charts with 54, 463 votes. He is pitted against Jharkhand Mukti Morcha’s Kushwaha Shashi Mehta who has received 48,010 votes.

In Telangana, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS)  candidate Tummala Nageswara Rao has secured 94,940 votes nearly double of Congress candidate Sucharitha Ramareddy received.

In Uttar Pradesh, Jangipur constituency Samajwadi Party, candidate Kismati secured a victory with more than 20,000 votes against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Ramesh. In Uttar Pradesh Bilari, Samajwadi Party candidate Mohammed Faheem defeated his BJP rival Suresh Saini by a margin of more than 7,000 votes. Faheem received 90,461 votes, whereas, BJP candidate Saini bagged in 83,371 votes. Results have been declared by the Election Commission of India.

The BJP now rule in nine states on its own Vasundhara Raje in Rajasthan, Anandiben Patel in Gujarat, Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Madhya Pradesh, Raman Singh in Chhattisgarh, Devendra Fadnavis in Maharashtra, Raghubar Das in Jharkhand, Laxmikant Parsekar in Goa and Manoharlal Khattar in Haryana. Sarbanand Sonowal in Assam will now join this list.

Solicit Governor SC Jamir's intercession into the ongoing stalemate in Odisha assembly which crossed ten working days on Monday, Narasingha Mishra leader of opposition ostensible that democracy and parliamentary practices were killed in a pre-planned manner in the state. Democracy and parliamentary practices are killed in broad day light and in a pre-planned manner. Mishra informed Jamir through a letter, stating that he was constrained to write to the governor, Mishra said i do not know where to get justice. Mishra alleged he was not allowed to speak on the Appropriation Bill by the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) members and the speaker suspended the proceedings without sufficient ground. Mishra said there was no disturbance from the opposition bench when the speaker suspend proceedings several times on May-13th when the house passed the Appropriation Bill in the absence of Opposition. The Congress leader admonish Jamir to take appropriate steps to save democracy and uphold the mandate of the Constitution.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had mixed Urdu poetry and sarcasm to take digs at the Congress which he compared to death even as he sought the co-operation of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha for the passage of pending key reform bills.  He made a strong case for coordination between the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha where the government lacks numbers.  Let us pass bills earlier passed in the Lok Sabha as soon as possible and give an impetus to India’s progress,” he told the Rajya Sabha. Modi remarks came during his reply to a debate on President Pranab Mukherjee’s address to parliament as some critical legislations, including the Goods and Services Tax (GST) Bill, are pending in the Rajya Sabha.   
Modi said nation is waiting for us to pass many bills. Drawing a parallel between death and the Congress, Death is a blessing it’s above criticism no one criticises death. People say someone died of cancer, (people say) he died of old age. The cancer and old age is blamed, but not death. Sometimes, I feel, the Congress is also blessed like death, whenever we criticise the Congress, the media says the opposition is under attack.  Quoting noted Urdu poet Nida Fazli. He strongly defended his government’s ambitious promise to double farmers’ income by 2022.

 Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday said that the GST Bill will be passed in Parliament in 'in just 15 minutes' with Congress support if the 'BJP' govt accepted conditions laid down by them, when he was speaking to students of NMIMS, in Mumbai in reply to a student’s question, he said that 'We don’t want a GST Bill where there is no cap on taxes. We want a limitation on the maximum tax people can be charged with'.The dispute between the ruling party and the Opposition party(Congress) is not just the demand for a constitutional cap on the GST median rate, as it is called, but also two other conditions put forward by the Congress.

The GST Bill has been approved by Lok Sabha, but is stuck in Rajya Sabha, where the BJP does not have a majority. The Congress has demanded withdrawal of an additional 1% on inter-state movement of goods, which has been proposed to provide comfort to manufacturing states that fear a loss of revenue. Congress has also demanded a dispute resolution panel headed by a Supreme Court judge. Stating that the GST legislation was conceptualised by congress for seven years, Arun Jaitley(Finance Minister) didn’t allow it to pass. Even Narendra Modi, when he was chief minister of Gujarat didn’t allow it to pass. The BJP blocked everything. It has never been the strategy of the Congress to block Parliament.

Rahul said this government doesn’t believe in a conversation, adding that a compromise on GST was possible. It is sitting on the table. But the government is not taking it. Work is yet to begin on the necessary infrastructure that can make GST work.

He should have taken opposition parties into confidence before taking such a step, Congress leader Pramod Tiwari said when asked about Nawaz Sharif calling up Modi to give assurance that they would act against those responsible for Pathankot attack.
Sharif had called up Modi on Tuesday and appreciated New Delhi for showing maturity in its statements post the terror attack on the Pathankot Airbase while asserting that terrorists were trying to disrupt the efforts to bring peace between the two countries.
Sharif further assured that their government was working on the leads and information provided by the Indian Government on the Pathankot attack, adding that they would investigate the matter.
The telephonic conversation takes place at a time when the Foreign Secretary-level talks with Pakistan scheduled for this month looks in serious jeopardy with strong indications that the Modi Government may call off the engagement if evidence emerges that Pakistan's state actors were complicit in the fidayeen raid on the air base.
Reports suggest that India expects Pakistan to take action against the leaders of terrorist group Jaish-e-Muhammaed, which scripted the attack on Pathankot, as a pre-condition for the talks.
Lauding the valiant efforts of the security forces for defending the Pathankot air base from the fidayeen, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Tuesday said six terrorists have been neutralised so far in the combing operation, which is still on for safety purpose.

Says those who "enjoyed power" for over six decades have no right to derail its functioning

Hitting out at the Congress over its disruptions in Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday asked the party to take a New Year resolution to allow Parliament to function for the sake of the country’s development.
“Tomorrow is January 1. When you are going to celebrate New Year, you should take a vow to allow Parliament to run and do its work and not pose hurdles for the country’s development,” Mr. Modi said.
He was addressing a public rally after laying the foundation stone of a 14-lane expressway connecting Delhi and Meerut.
Mr. Modi said, “This is the misfortune of India, Parliament where laws are made is not being allowed to function. Those who have been rejected by people seized its functioning. They do not allow Parliament to run. I request all these political parties not to do so. Since I have not got an opportunity to speak in Lok Sabha, I am taking the opportunity to air my views in ‘Jan Sabha’. People have sent us to Parliament to debate, discuss and decide.”
The Prime Minister said the Congress “enjoyed power” for over six decades and that it has no right to derail its functioning for “political reasons” and hold back the country’s development.
“It is our responsibility to accomplish the work entrusted on us by people. This responsibility specially lies on those who have ruled the country for over 60 years. They know what the responsibility of Parliament is. It is specially their responsibility to ensure that country’s development is not stopped because of their political reasons. I understand the anger of those who have not got a chance to rule the country. But those who have enjoyed all kinds of power for 60 years have no right to halt Parliament and destroy its functioning,” he said.
The Prime Minister’s attack on the Congress comes after discussion on key Bills, including the GST, were held up due to a stalemate with the Opposition party.
No interview process for class III and class IV employees
Mr. Modi also chose the occasion to announce that the government has abolished interview process for class III and class IV employees and now appointments will happen strictly on basis of merit.
While noting that the Central government is implementing it from January 1 as a “New Year Gift”, the Prime Minister urged State governments to do the same.

We will not leave Congress when we invite parties as part of DMK alliance," said Karunanidhi on Monday evening when he was asked whether he would invite Congress.

The DMK chief had already said he wanted Vijayakanth's DMDK to be part of the alliance.

A few days ago, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) chief E V K S Elangovan told reporters that the party would be ready to go it alone in the elections.

Speaking at TNCC headquarters on December 28, Elangovan said, "We are ready to be part of a secular alliance. But if nothing comes through, then with the help of (party president) Sonia Gandhi and (party vice-president) Rahul Gandhi, Congress will contest the elections on its own," said Elangovan.

Till the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, DMK had been part of the Congress-led UPA at the national level, and Congress had been part of the DMK-led alliance in Tamil Nadu. But both the parties contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections alone and lost all seats.

Congress lost its deposit in almost all seats in which it contested. Before the elections, DMK walked out of the UPA over Sri Lanka Tamil issue.

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy on Monday alleged that Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi had been the director of a company in Britain and he had declared himself as a British citizen.

Accusing Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi of declaring himself a British citizen to float a firm in that country, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has written to PM Modi, demanding that the Congress MP should be stripped of his Indian citizenship as well as his parliamentary membership. The Congress has, however, dismissed Swamy’s charge.

“I wrote to PM Modi on November 12, asking him to initiate steps to cancel Rahul’s citizenship and will ask Lok Sabha Speaker to appoint a committee or direct the committee on ethics to cancel his Lok Sabha membership,” Swamy said at a specially-convened press conference.

However, the Congress termed the allegations false and said the dirty tricks department of the BJP was resorting to “petty and mindless mud-slinging” as it was “frustrated by its humiliating defeat in Bihar and internal revolt brewing amongst the seniormost leadership”.

In his letter to the PM Modi, Swamy alleged that Rahul had floated a company called Backops Limited in 2003 in the UK, and in the annual return form, he had declared himself to be of British nationality with a UK address. Rahul also held 65 per cent of the total shares issued by this company, Swamy claimed.

“Same facts were repeated, viz, that Mr Rahul Gandhi as having British nationality in the annual returns filed on Oct 31, 2006 as well,” the letter said.

“No MP can incorporate a company abroad without permission and without declaring the same in his nomination form as a candidate for election to Parliament,” the letter added.
Congress communication department head Randeep Singh Surjewala said, “The sole purpose appears to be to divert attention from inner revolt and paralysis of policy and governance being questioned all around.”

About the company’s annual return purportedly mentioning Rahul as a British national, Surjewala said: “Rahul Gandhi has not filed any such return. If somebody has committed an error while uploading, it can be corrected. It is correctable. Rahul has held Indian citizenship from the day he was born.”

Several former officials of the Intelligence Bureau and the Research & Analysis Wing on Tuesday demanded that the Centre soon make public the files on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. They stressed he did not die in an air crash and alleged a suppression of facts by former Congress governments at the Centre.

In a letter addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under an umbrella organistaion, Patriots’ Forum, they wrote, “The third commission of inquiry clearly stated that Netaji did not die in a plane crash on August 18, 1945 at Taihoku near Japan and the ashes kept at the Renkoji Temple did not belong to him. “The sentiments are so strong that no government had the courage to bring the ashes to India. We are, however, told that the present President of India, Pranab Mukherjee had toyed with that idea once during one of his ministerial roles but had to back out in right time,” former Special Director, IB revealed.

The sleuths also revealed that when former Supreme Court judge Monoj Kumar Mukherjee, who headed the third commission of inquiry wrote to the PMO, the Cabinet Secretariat and Ministry of Home Affairs for some vital “missing documents”, he was indirectly threatened. They told the PM that “a certain deputy secretary wrote back to him (Mukherjee) not to waste their time and restrain his ardour.”

The former sleuths told the PM in their letter, “Both the Congress and the then government at the Centre had made crude efforts to confuse the nation regarding the circumstances and the place of Netaji’s death. Indeed, so sloppy has been this effort that only after the third Commission of Inquiry submitted its report as late as November 7, 2005, was it finally confirmed with scientific evidence that he didn’t die in that plane crash.”

Demanding that the present Central government declassify some files at least, they alleged that the UPA-I government led by former Prime Manmohan Singh, after receiving the report within three days, outrightly rejected it without a discussion in Parliament. They pointed out that the Mukherjee commission had recorded: “It appeared that some power was working in the Government of India which clearly swept off all documents that produced any evidence negating the conclusions arrived at by Shah Nawaz and Khosla Commissions.”

Former West Bengal DGP Nirupam Shome, who is also the grand nephew of Netaji wrote: “Whether he died in a plane crash at Taihoku in 1945 or in 1956 in a prison at Omsk in South-western Siberia should be examined by the team.”
